Hello! In this section of my blog, I will be sharing my reflections about topics covered in the technology course that I am taking as part of my teacher education program. As my blog posts will doubtlessly reveal, I have a complicated relationship with modern technology and was, in fact, dreading this course. I had visions of being trapped in an airless computer lab, forced to perform tedious, incomprehensible tasks on a strange device, or even, dare I say it, do coding.

Fortunately, our technology in education course is nothing of the sort. Our instructor does not have a heavy pro-tech agenda to push; indeed, his message is centred around intentionality. This perspective resonates with me, for I often see technology being used in empty ways, like a shiny gadget. I will bring technology into my future elementary classrooms when it serves a meaningful purpose and is the most appropriate and effective means available to me.

Anyway, before getting too comfortable on this improvised soapbox, I should probably acknowledge that only my instructor and perhaps a handful of classmates will read this blog. I will be using this space to fulfil a course requirement: to reflect on the content of our weekly classes, and to experiment in a personal and hands-on way with some of the applications and methods that we will discover. I am very appreciative of the leeway that we have been given.
