If you love art and have read my previous free inquiry post, you may be disappointed to discover that I did not experiment with mixed media drawing and did not research and discuss the use of preparatory sketches by illustrious artists such as J.M.W. Turner.
No, unfortunately such passions will have to wait. In the meantime, I have switched gears and decided to make use of this space for professional purposes. More precisely, I am going to list and comment on French immersion teaching resources as I prepare for my two teaching practica and, soon after, my career as a French immersion teacher.
The elementary education program that I am taking has no French pedagogy component whatsoever. We have pedagogy courses for mathematics, English language arts (two separate courses on reading and writing), science, art, physical and health education, and social studies. No French. This fact is surprising, given that teacher candidates who are proficient in French like me can do their teaching practica in French immersion classrooms to fulfill their degree requirements. It is even more surprising if we consider that French is a learning area in elementary and middle school education in this province. In my opinion, all elementary education students should have some preparation to teach French during their teaching degree.

While I have not received many French-language teaching resources thus far in my education program, I have nonetheless started collecting them on my own, mostly through informal channels. Over the next few posts, I will share some of them, both as a means of keeping them organized for my own purposes, and in the interest of helping other new teachers of both core French and French immersion.
